Contrary to earlier news, statins are not tied to mental decline

Review Finds Statins Not Tied to Mental Decline

Huffington Post - Statins, drugs that prevent heart attack may not be linked to mental decline

On the basis of anecdotes, the FDA issued warning that statins cause decline in mental faculties.  However recent reviews do not seem to support the FDA announcement.  Here are the results of the review posted at NewsMax Health last November 19

Cholesterol-lowering statin drugs do not appear to raise the risk of memory loss or dementia, a new review finds.
"In February 2012, largely based on anecdotal reports, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a safety statement warning patients of possible adverse mental effects associated with statin use," said senior study author Dr. Emil deGoma, medical director of the preventive cardiovascular program at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine.

In addition, deGoma said, doctors should not assume statins are to blame when someone taking them becomes forgetful. "We may be doing more harm than good if we withhold or stop statins -- medications proven to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke -- due to fears that statins might possibly cause memory loss," he said.
The report was published in the Nov. 19 issue of the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Gregg Fonarow, a spokesman for the American Heart Association, said statins are important in reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes, and have been proven safe and effective numerous times.

This should be reassuring to many Americans who are taking statins.  However the FDA sees no reason to withdraw the warning according to FDA spokeswoman Morgan Liscinsky.

There are drugs that can lessen cholesterol:

Common cause of diseases now in USA - iatrogeneis and polypharma

Repost from Cheapcures

This dark secret is being shared for many senior citizens in nursing homes.  Many are spending the rest of their lives diagnosed as suffering from Alzheimer or dementia.  They cant remember the names of their children (or get lost and forget who they are or where they live - also true in the PHL)

The dark secret - many of them do not have the disease -  many of them are iatrogenic (caused by the MD) or are polypharma (caused by taking too many drugs)  This is not a speculation but are fully documented.

1.  Many of the falls (which cause fractures and orthopedic operations) are drug induced;

2.  97% of those who stay in nursing homes take at least one drug, with 17% taking three or more;

3.  Many prescription drugs cause  drug induced Parkinsonism;   there are 22 drugs and 14 otc products that cause these symptoms

A typical scenario would be:  a senior citizen is diagnosed to have high blood pressure and an anti hypertensive drug is prescribed and soon side effects appear.  And drugs are prescribed to counter act the side effect which now in turn produce a new set of side effects.  And so a third drug is prescribed.

The article lists other items that are interesting and useful like:

1.  Unusual remedy that works faster than aspirin;

2.  Beverage that clears clogged arteries;

3.  Permanent health cure for arthritis

Codex Alimentarius favors "business with a disease"

A Threat to Human Kind - Codex Alimentarius Commission
 By Matthias Rath  2001

This is a very difficult reading because there are 20 commission which churn out reports that amount to 1,400 pages annually and very few comprehend what the reports contain.  However, this analysis says:

here is an entire industry with an innate economic interest to obstruct, suppress and discredit any information about the eradication of diseases. The pharmaceutical industry makes over one trillion dollars from selling drugs for ongoing diseases. These drugs may relieve symptoms, but they do not cure.

We have to realize that the mission of this industry is to make money from ongoing diseases

Pharmas do not intend to cure diseases (but make more diseases/symptoms) To change the industry would be counter productive/inimical to the interest of big pharmas;

Here are some more discussions on the complex relation of pharmas with Codex:

Are big pharmas hurting health care on a global scale?

From OpEd News - Are Big Pharmas engaging on Genocide?

Increase in number of autism in USA

                        Number of Vaccines Dramatically Rise

From healing your children - relation between vaccination and autism

Talk about pesticides, pharma drugs with side effects,  controlling sale and distribution of food supplements through Codex Alimentarius or vaccines that are laced with metals.  Talk about autism related to vaccinations.

You are right.  When there is a problem, there is an opportunity.  And diseases is a big opportunity for big pharma and hospital

Disease is big business and pharmaceutical corporations are cashing in on the destruction of health worldwide.  Akin to their sinister forbearers at IG Farben, who were convicted of crimes against humanity at the Nuremberg Trails, today's pharmaceutical corporations are now perpetuating genocide on a global scale.

Millions are spent funding candidates from both political parties ensuring that no matter who is in office the laws enacted favor them.  Pharmaceutical firms contributed $1,995,384 on the Obama campaign alone. These corporations purchase, sorry, "fund" not only the government officials, but also most of the institutions who are supposed to safeguard the public health, which means all of these institutions have been affectively subverted.  In fact the major pharmaceutical firms and their corporate partners in crime fund everything from medical schools to the American Dietetic Association to United Nations sponsored programs like Codex Alimentarius (international agreements controlling production and distribution of food and supplements).
Companies like Monsanto have not only been profiting from the poisoning of the people of the world, (giving us dangerous products like agent orange and aspartame,) but have been for many years buying and working in partnership with major pharmaceutical firms and therefore also profit on the treatment of the symptoms caused by their poisons.  One pharmaceutical company purchased by Monsanto in 1985 was G.D. Searle & Company.  Donald Rumsfeld was CEO of G.D. Searle & Company at that time and he played a major role in Monsanto's acquisition of the company.  Searle is now Pfizer.
Many medications and vaccines potentially cause more problems than they solve.  This is not a side effect, this is part of how big pharmaceutical companies make their money.  There is far more money in keeping patients dependent on expensive drugs than there is in curing them.  If a drug causes more illness, (particularly one which seems unrelated,) the new symptoms must then be treated.  The more problems a patient suffers from, the more drugs you can sell them.  These companies are pushing the deadliest and most addictive substances known to man and they do it legally.

Vaccines are out and outright toxic.  Here is just a short list of some of the chemicals and heavy metals commonly found in many vaccines: formaldehyde, aluminum hydroxide, aluminum phosphate, aluminum sulfate, sorbitol, bensethonium chloride, and phenol.  Some vaccines such as GalaxoSmithKline's Havrix for hepatitis A contain diploid cells from aborted fetal tissue.  In addition there are the vaccines which get accidentally, so they claim, contaminated.  Oops, was that bird flu we put in there?
New studies are connecting the skyrocketing autism rate with vaccination.  Is it any wonder that children are suffering from the effects of as many as 36 toxic shots by the age of five in America, 20 in the UK and 26 in Australia?  If vaccines protect your child, how is it possible that of the three countries listed the USA has the most vaccinations and also the highest child mortality rate under five?  I personally know a young couple whose beautiful vibrant two year old daughter died due to complications from her vaccination.
The fear of a pandemic alone is enough to generate major profits for the big pharmaceutical companies.  A new vaccine or treatment is advertised and governments, hospitals and even common people will stockpile the medication out of fear of infection.  Each time the media plays up the new pandemic flu, be it bird or swine, the big pharmaceutical firms laugh all the way to the bank.
Doctors who speak out against dangerous drugs are put on hit lists .  Merck had a list of doctors who were to be "neutralized" or "discredited" because they had criticized the painkiller Vivoxx (now withdrawn from the market.)  Those Doctors who play ball with the major pharmaceutical corporations and prescribe large enough quantities of a company's drugs may receive "incentives."
Alternative healthcare is under attack.  Anything which cn not be patented and controlled by the big pharmaceutical firms, such as herbal remedies and vitamins, are being legislated out of existence.  Codes alimentarius plays a key part in this assault on nutrients, by reclassifying them as toxins and limiting the amount you can get with or without a prescription.  Further legislative impediments to nutrition include the American bill H.R. 875 which seriously threatens organic farming and can only result in more ill health.  Such a prohibition on nutrients and quality foods will likely result in a resurgence of easily preventable diseases such as scurvy.  Codex Alimentarius Standards
For those with a healthy body, the pharmaceutical pushers industry has a drug for you anyway.  Got the blues?  Got worries?  Medicate them away.  Even new mothers are a target.  The Mothers Act seeks to assess the mental health of women before they can take their babies home.  How many will be told they need to take mood altering pills if they wish to retain custody of their children?  (Ron Paul has introduced HR 2218, the Parental Consent Act, to battle mandatory mental health screening and forced medicating of children.) The same sort of mood-altering medications are all too often prescribed to foster children.  These are also the same type of drugs which are now frequently being connected with cases of suicide and mass violence, including school shootings.
The actions of the pharmaceutical industry are nothing less than criminal.  In 2004 a complaint was submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague accusing the major pharmaceutical companies and many of the key government officials they fund of genocide and other crimes against humanity as well as war crimes.  Among the accused are: the CEOs of Pfizer, Merck, GalaxoSmithKline and Eli Lilly from pharmaceutical industry and George W. Bush, Tony Blair, John Ashcroft, and of course Donald Rumsfeld from the political arena.
While the western world is kept busy looking for terrorists in their trash bins, the pharmaceutical corporations continue to endanger the health of billions with impunity.  Now is the time to act before Codex Alimentarius comes into full effect, before organic food has been legislated out of existence.  Boycott toxic vaccines.  Support alternative medical practitioners.  Take your health and well being out of the hands of profiteers.

Are there MDs just like Dr. Devi Shetty and Dr. V of India (and Dr. Carlos Naval in the PHL?)

From Cheapcures August 21, 2013

While the rest of the Western World have escalating health care  costs, MDs and pharmas in India have strived to keep health care cost down.   An eye operation in Aravind Hospitalcan cost as little as $5.00 which includes the lens.  They now have their own lens manufacturing facility.  The vision of Dr V was to make Aravind hospital the McDonald of cataract surgery.  They have done millions of cataract surgery.   In the PHL, there is moderate cost of cataract operation.  But it can even be brought down  as Dr. Carlos Naval of Galileo Surgicenter has proposed.  In his hospital, the goal is to give operating hours to residents who would like to be eye specialists.  Thus if you are in the list of those who get budget operations, you cant choose the doctor who will operate on you.

Costs can be brought down, as Dr. Shetty and Dr V have suggested by using the principles of mass production and economies of scale.  All items cost in the health care system can be brought down:   linen, gloves, needles, medicines, and staff.  Thus, as was proposed even by Dr. Naval, their OR nurse was the Centers optometrist.  She does record keeping and hands instruments. This solves the problems of migratory nurses (partly solved due to the over supply of nurses now)  Dr. V/Aravind hospital trains high schools graduates to be the centers/hospital nurses.  They cost less.

Dr. Devi Shetty on the other hand can have open heart surgery/bypass for as little as $1,500 (vs $25,000 in MM hospitals in the PHL and  in Davao, PHL, it can be 1/5 of the MM costs).  Health care costs in US are staggering.  The same procedure can cost over $100,00 - from Health Impact News

From Dr. Joseph Mercola

Some solutions are:

1.  Cross subsidy;

2.  Fixed salary for a certain number of operations for the MD, 100% fees beyond a target;

3. Caps on procedures;

4. Political will.  Health care is not pure business, but a social issue.

5. Taxing the doctors.

6.  Re molding the mindset of MDs.  MDs want to be MDs now, not for service for profit and good life:   MB, BMW, Audi, travel abroad, condos etc.

Aravind Hospital

                       Dr Carlos Naval (was an MBAH student at a GSB)

Am I anti pharma and MDs?

Am I an antagonist vs the Pharma industries and Doctors and Hospitals?

I can not afford to do that at this point.  I am a senior citizen and I will be soon needing constant health care and medical attention.  Age would catch up with me and affect my health.

I used to be a pharma rep, my sister and many of my relatives are MDs.  I teach at a GSB and have had several hundreds of MDs as friends and students.  Many miracles/cures are through modern pharma drugs and hospital procedures.

But like any other good things, too much of good things/excesses could be poisonous, and hence some moderation is needed for the above industries.  Things have gone out of control:   practices, values, to the detriment of the patients, society, and even health care at large.

Hence this site.

Welcome to the Big Pharma and Hospital site!

This site is an offspring of Cheapcures.  The author divided the topic into:  plantcures and Big Pharma and Hospitals.  As of now cheapcures look cluttered where topics on food, toxicity, traditional Western cures, natural cures, are all gathered in one site.

New, modern, western medicine is such a welcome development for the modern world.  However, allegedly R and D costs have driven up costs of medicine and health care.  To the point that there are patients never see a doctor nor have taken up Western Medicine because they could not afford to do so.

Half of the world, most of them in Asia live on less that $2.00 per day, yet health care costs can only be afforded by citizens of USA who have health insurances.  China India and Thailand take care of their citizens in much cheaper way.  US and European big pharma are in confrontation with authorities of India (and possibly China ) over patent infringements, and they are accused by Westerners for looking the other way while Intellectual Property Rights are being blatantly violated.  And yet their authorities must be congratulated for making meds affordable for its people

The medicines in the PHL are one of the highest in the world, and regulators in the PHL are alleged to be under the payroll of the Western Pharma.  It is no wonder that in 90s the Generic Law was passed. to bring down the cost of meds.  However, due to the example of a big hospital in QC, and many others have followed suit, since they are serving med tourists from US, have been charging more and more.  I have learned that a two day stay in the hospital will set you back, without the surgeons and PF by nearly a hundred thou.

Does your MD take MD kickbacks?

Drs. want more and more.  Hospital owners want more.  And I regret sometimes, that as a professor of business adminin in a GSB, I have always harped on opportunity seeking and seizing.  However, health care has an even more compelling social and service component.

The universal health care of Thailand, the Aravind Hospital, and Dr. David Shetty of India show us the way.  The US and their Filipino counterparts must be reminded.

Which are the big causes of mortality and morbidity in US?

America's biggest killers

Take note of the deaths from medical errors and unintentional injuries.  The combined total of the two would be 300,000.  If we speculate the inintentional injuriies could be wrong operations mistakes in operations/surgeries, then we may conclude (albeit wrongly) that many of the deaths in US are man made avoidable, and are due to current big company facilities (errr hospitals) Something must be wrong in US health care system and needs correction soon.
